Florence Warehouses

As a result of the dynamic E-commerce market, this 300,700 SF distribution center was originally designed for one developer and then purchased by another. Since the Client had a successful relationship with Harrison-Hamnett Structural Engineers, we asked them to join our Architecture/Structural Team. The primary structural bay sizing is 50’-0” along the 310’ width by 54’-0” along the length with the loading docks. This 54’ width of bays is preferred by the Client. It allows for one loading dock in a 13’6” panel and four doors per 54’ bay. It allows for more room on either side of the 10’-0” wide loading doors for vehicular maneuvering. The 13’-6” panel size is the maximum permitted for transport if panels are precast construction. The panels can be 27’-0” wide (twice the 13’-6” width) if constructed as tilt-up panels. The roof was designed as a mono-slope so collection of rainwater would occur on the loading dock side only with connections to site stormwater system. This was designed to reduce the amount of stormwater collection and piping.

This project was documented to be bid to multiple contractors as either a tilt or precast panel building, and precast was ultimately selected. The exterior used much of the original design and was modified to include the Client’s branding, with banding of standard colors.
